Estate Settlement Process
An objective, informed estate professional can ensure that the wishes of the deceased are carried out as intended. Our Tax and Estate Group brings both experience and objectivity to the estate settlement process. We understand how current laws and strategies can affect a particular estate's issues, and we tailor our services according to each estate's needs.
- Prepare and file all papers related to court proceedings and will-contest periods
- Collect assets, close bank accounts, transfer/sell automobiles, submit insurance claims, and terminate annuity and pension payments
- Pay debts and expenses and analyze the estate's cash requirements
- Arrange appraisal/sale of real estate and/or private property
- Value securities as of date of death as well as the six-month alternate valuation date
- Prepare or review income tax returns
- Prepare estate tax returns
- Arrange final distribution
- Complete administrative matters needed to settle and close the estate
